Born in 1987 in Ludwigshafen as the son of professional musicians, Joseph Moog’s ability to combine exquisite technical skill with a mature and intelligent musicality set him apart as a pianist who should be taken very seriously. Grammy nominee Joseph Moog is a champion of rare and forgotten repertoire as well as composing his own works.

He received the Award for Young Artist of the Year 2015 at the Gramophone Classical Music Awards.   Joseph’s 2015/16 season begins by opening the Master Pianists Series at the Concertgebouw in Amsterdam, where he will play an outstanding programme including works by Beethoven Tchaikovsky, Godowsky and Liszt. This is followed by debuts with the Philharmonia, Beethhoven Orchester Bonn, BBC National Orchestra of Wales, Philharmonie Zuidnederland and Moscow International House of Music among others. He also returns to the Louvre Auditorium in Paris for a recital streamed live on Medici TV.
Important engagements further ahead will include an Asian tour in the autumn of 2016 where Joseph will make his debut with the Hong Kong Sinfonietta and Kumho Art Hall in Seoul, as well as his debut with the Orchestre Métropolitain conducted by Yannik Nézét-Seguin in the spring of 2017.

Adding to a career which is constantly on the rise, Joseph’s 2014/15 season was particularly successful as he made debuts with the Helsinki Philharmonic, Stuttgart Philharmonic, Prague Philharmonia at the Munich Gasteig, Saarlandisches Staatsorchester, Poznan Philharmonic and Orchestre des Concerts Lamoureux in Paris. A special and personal highlight for Joseph was his performance of Alexander Scriabin's Piano Concerto with the Bochumer Symphoniker at the Dortmund Konzerthaus as part of the Ruhr Klavierfestival 2015, on the occasion of the 100th anniversary of the composer’s death. Equally successful on the recital platform, Joseph forged a strong relationship with the Wigmore Hall after making his debut in November 2014, and will subsequently return for a series of recitals up to 2021.

Recital performances also took him to the Lancaster International Concert Series, New Ross Piano Festival, Fribourg International Concert Series, Istanbul Recitals and the Eesti Kontsert Piano Festival on Tallinn.

Making his mark in America following his debut in March 2011 with the Colorado Symphony Orchestra conducted by Gilbert Varga, Joseph’s recent and forthcoming engagements in the USA include performances at the Gilmore International Piano Series in Kalamazoo, Frick Collection in New York, Philip Lorenz Memorial Concerts in Fresno, Portland Piano International, Ravinia Festival, Washington Performing Arts Society and Miami International Piano Festival.

Joseph has also previously performed at the Alte Oper Frankfurt, Berlin Konzerthaus, Dortmund Konzerthaus, Laeiszhalle in Hamburg, Munich Gasteig, Meistersingerhalle in Nuremberg, Stuttgart Liederhalle, Mariinsky Theater Auditorium in St. Petersburg, De Doelen in Rotterdam, Auditorium della Conciliazione in Rome, Royal Albert Hall in London and at international festivals such as La Roque d`Antéron and the Ruhr Klavierfestival. He has also performed internationally in Zurich, Basel, Vienna, Salzburg, Prague, Sofia, Antwerp, Milan, Beijing, Rio de Janeiro and Tel Aviv.

Renowned conductors with whom Joseph has had the privilege of working include Andrey Boreyko, Karl-Heinz Steffens, Juanjo Mena, Christian Vasquez, Christoph Poppen, Pablo Gonzalez, Ari Rasilainen, Marcus Bosch, Toshiyuko Kamioka, John Axelrod, Fabrice Bollon, Theodor Guschlbauer, Petr Altrichter, Patrick Lange, Othmar Maga, Philippe Entremont, Markus Poschner and Michael Sanderling.Moog has an extensive discography and has received numerous awards for his recordings, as well as outstanding critiques from the international press. His ninth CD Grieg & Moszkowski Piano Concertos, was released in 2015 by Onyx Classics and has breathed new life into Moszkowski’s neglected concerto as well as exciting critics with his fresh take on the perennially popular Grieg. Yet again Joseph showed his ability to present repertoire in an intelligent and interesting way, as previously demonstrated on his last recital CD which included Tchaikovsky’s Grande Sonate in G, Op 37 cunningly paired with Scharwenka’s Sonata No 2 in E Flat, Op 36.

Joseph’s talent has not gone unrecognized, and prior to his Gramophone Award in 2015 he has twice been a winner at the International Classical Music Awards ICMA, in 2012 receiving the Award for Young Artist of the Year, followed in 2014 by the Award for Solo Instrumentalist of the Year awarded jointly with the celebrated pianist Elisabeth Leonskaja. Further distinctions such as Musikpreis der Deutsche Konzertdirektion, 4 SuperSonic Awards, Advancement Award of the Rhineland Palatinate and Schleswig-Holstein Festivals, the Pianist’s Choice, Prix Groupe de Rothschild (Sommets Musicaux de Gstaad) and the Rhine-Mosel Musikpreis document the professional path of this young pianist, who was named a Young Steinway Artist in 2009. Joseph is nominated for the 58th Grammys 2016 (Category: Best Classical Instrumental Solo).

Joseph Moog began playing the piano at the age of four, and was initially enrolled as a young student at the Academy of Music in Karlsruhe, after which he studied with Professor Bernd Glemser at the Academy of Music in Würzburg, and with Professor Arie Vardi at the Academy for Music, Theatre and Media in Hannover.
