VIEUXTEMPS: VIOLIN CONCERTO NO. 5, OP. 37 - WIENIAWSKI: VIOLIN CONCERTO NO. 2, OP. 22
Accompanied by Hannu Lintu and the Lausanne Chamber Orchestra; his stunning performances on his magnificent “Milanollo” Stradivarius of Vieuxtemps’ Fifth Concerto and Wieniawski’s Second Concerto are matched by a recording of a work rarely heard: Wieniawski’s Fantaisie brillante on themes from Gound’s “Faust”.
The in-depth liner notes were written by eminent French musicologist Jean-Michel Molkhou. This recording was made possible by the generous support of Pictet & Cie Private Bankers in Geneva; who also participated generously in the production of the Beethoven box.
This recording was made possible through the generous supports of Pictet & Cie; Private Bankers; Geneva and is dedicated to Corey Cerovsek’s teacher Josef Gingold. Special thanks to Dominique Delouche and the Duke and Duchess Reynier Pozzo di Borgo.
(2008) Vieuxtemps: Violin Concerto No. 5, Op. 37 - Wieniawski: Violin Concerto No. 2, Op. 22 - CD 2801
Following his exquisite recording of Beethoven’s sonatas for violin and piano encased in a luxurious box (Claves CD 50-2610/12) and crowned with the prestigious “MIDEM Classical Award” at the beginning of 2008; Canadian violinist Corey Cerovsek will release a new album this fall that is sure to set a new milestone: concertos by 19th century violin virtuosos Henri Vieuxtemps and Henryk Wieniawski.
