MENDELSSOHN: THE SIX ORGAN SONATAS, BENJAMIN RIGHETTI
Official release date: 2 December 2016
*** Clé du Mois ResMusica ***
“INGENIOUS, BRILLIANT THIRTY-YEAR-OLD” (Le Temps)
“ONE OF THE MOST BRILLIANT ORGANISTS OF HIS GENERATION” (Revue musicale de Suisse romande)
“AN EXCEPTIONALLY TALENTED MUSICIAN” (Diapason)
Benjamin Righetti is titular organist of the church of Saint-François, teaches at the Conservatoire and the University of Music Lausanne (HEMU). He was born in Switzerland in 1982 and is fascinated by all keyboard instruments: piano, organ, harpsichord, clavichord or fortepiano.
Unclassifiable musician or rightly authentic organist? In any case, it is at the organ that he has won the most prestigious international competitions (Swiss Organ Competition, Bruges, Tokyo-Musashino, Freiberg, Chartres and Paris) and given over 500 concerts already, the world over. His recordings of J.S. Bach’s Trio Sonatas, of his transcription of Liszt’s Sonata, and of Franck’s and Brahms’s Chorales (available on Claves «digital only» catalogue) have been acclaimed by international critics.
