BEETHOVEN: TRIPLE CONCERTO, OP. 56 - THE CREATURES OF PROMETHEUS, OP. 43
Founded in 2004; the trio won the Cracow International Chamber Music Competition in 2007. That same year; they won the First Prize as well as the Audience Prize at the Karlsruhe European Chamber Music Competition. In 2009 they were joint winners of the Joseph Haydn International Competition in Vienna and also won the Esterházy Foundation Audience Prize.
From 2006 on; the Berolina Trio have worked intensely with Professor Markus Becker. A year later; they joined the prestigious European Chamber Music Academy (ECMA); where they benefit from advice from chamber musicians from some of the world's greatest ensembles: Hatto Beyerle of the Alban Berg Quartet; Shmuel Ashkenasi of the Vermeer Quartet; Johannes Meissl of the Artis Quartet; Eckart Heiligers of the Trio Jean Paul; Avedis Kouyoumdjian; Anner Bylsma or even Ferenc Rados.
They chose the most prestigious piece of their repertoire – Beethoven's Triple Concerto – for this first recording with an orchestra. A most promising visiting card; drawn hand in hand with conductor Douglas Boyd and the oldest professional orchestra in Switzerland; the Musikkollegium Winterthur; who are immortalizing excerpts of Beethoven's "Creatures of Prometheus" on the same album.
(2010) Beethoven: Triple Concerto, Op. 56 - The Creatures of Prometheus, Op. 43 - CD 1001
The Berolina Trio won the "Marguerite Dütschler" prize at the Sommets Musicaux de Gstaad; as violinists Alexandra Soumm and Liviu Prunaru; baritone Herman Wallén; harpist Emmanuel Ceysson; pianist Joseph Moog and cellist Nicolas Altstaedt did before them. This distinction allowed them to record a CD with orchestra; financed by the main sponsor of the festival; the Edmond de Rothschild Private Bank.
