LEFT HAND PIANO RECITAL
This “rebirth” permitted Antoine Rebstein not only to realize his passion for sculpture and the plastic arts – he is now an art history student at the University of Salzburg – but also to enlarge his own musical horizon by studying conducting and by discovering that his passion for the piano could be lived out … with one hand! «The repertoire for the left hand contains jewels that I never suspected to exist»; he confided. «There are a large number of works that are relatively unknown; most require a musical technique and sense of expression that is far above average.»
Sometimes life can take an abrupt turn that at first can seem devastating but that in the end reveals itself to be meaningful and the impulse for something new. Antoine Rebstein was evidently not happy when he discovered that his right hand was ailing… A pianist at heart since his youth; he was enjoying a carefree life as a gifted; young concert soloist and could not imagine that this might come to an end. But alas; «fate»! And this fate seemed to grab him by the throat and want to strangle him; but it also forced him to act; to reexamine his life and to envision new challenges.
