Forced to remain in America during the war and the years of occupation; he made his way back to Europe in 1948. It was a time of reunion with many of his colleagues who had been forced to flee in all directions by the wave of barbarism.
One of the most important meeting points after the war was the Septembre musical Festival in Montreux on Lake Geneva; a second home to many artists contributing to the age of revival in the form of music. Kogan left a number of fantastic “postcards” in recordings for Radio Suisse Romande. One of them is a recording of Beethoven’s Violin Concerto in 1964; made in collaboration with another musical giant; George Szell.

Nathan Milstein was a breed of musician that is now said to be extinct. Born at the turn of the century; his life was marked by the nostalgia of a bygone era; long periods of war; and later by revival and a time of lasting peace. He also was part of an illustrious tradition; that of the great Hungarian violinist Leopold Auer; who taught many brilliant violinists in Russia and in the United States.
