STRINGS IN PINK - FROM BACH TO THE BEATLES
The chamber orchestra TEMPO GIUSTO was founded in 1987 in order to accompany Syrinx, panpipe virtuoso, on his tourney to 40 cities throughout Switzerland. The success with which the purely orchestral works on the program were greeted led to its quick transition from accompanying ensemble to independent orchestra.
Additional engagements and tours followed, together with the first CD, organ concertos by Georg Friedrich Händel with the soloist Hannes Meyer. Also worthy of special mention are the orchestra’s appearances in the well-known “treasury concerts” of the Swiss Bank Corporation.
In addition to the traditional repertoire, TEMPO GIUSTO has also developed a highly individual program dedicated to lighter music extending from the Renaissance to the Beatles. This is in part the reason for the unusual composition of the ensemble: only five first and four violins, joined by four violas, three cellos and two double basses (5-strings instruments). The emphasis on the middle and bass registers combined with the numerous colors of the “modern” concert harpsichord are the foundation of the particularly intensive and richly shaded sonorities.
TEMPO GIUSTO thus considers itself as the antipode to those chamber ensembles de dedicated to so-called “original instruments” and “original sonorities”.
The ensemble strives to speak directly to the hearts of its listeners through spontaneous and lively performances.
