SCHUMANN: PIANO CONCERTO OP. 54 - BEETHOVEN: PIANO CONCERTO NO. 3 OP. 37 (LIVE RECORDINGS
These are moving testimonies of her art that provide witness to the immense subtlety of her playing, fragile and irresistibly incandescent. And for Claves Records, which was taken over by the Clara Haskil Foundation, it is the opportunity to pay homage to its new “patron saint”
(2004) Schumann: Piano Concerto Op. 54 - Beethoven: Piano Concerto No. 3 Op. 37 (Live Recordings) - CD 2408
Is it even necessary to introduce Clara Haskil? Sublime pianist, perhaps too often reduced to the role of an interpreter of Mozart, she now discloses a new side of her art for Claves, a side that already has received much attention in recordings: her collaboration with conductor Ernest Ansermet and his orchestra, the Orchestre de la Suisse Romande; two live recordings made by Radio Suisse Romande during the last years of her life. On the program: Schumann’s Concerto in A Minor, recorded at Victoria Hall in Geneva in 1956, and Beethoven’s Concerto No. 3, which is immortalized here in a recording from the Septembre Musical in Montreux in 1960, less than four months before the pianist’s tragic death in Brussels.
These are moving testimonies of her art that provide witness to the immense subtlety of her playing, fragile and irresistibly incandescent. And for Claves Records, which was taken over by the Clara Haskil Foundation, it is the opportunity to pay homage to its new “patron saint”
