HARP RECITAL
While many composers have written virtually nothing for the harp, much of the best music that has been composed for this historic instrument (dating back to a remote era, around 3000 BC) has been written by composers unknown to most listeners. This disc offers a range of more or less famous names, but it is the music that speaks for itself.
C.P.E. Bach's ‘Solo for Harp’ is his only known work for the instrument, as are Hindemith's Sonata and Albert Roussel's Impromptu. Britten and Ginastera composed various pieces for the harp, both as solo instrument and accompaniment. Many of the works by harp virtuoso Parish Alvars are dauntingly difficult.
Born in Bologna, Italy, Gabriella Dall'Olio studied with Anna Loro at the Dall'Abaco Conservatory in Verona. She continued her studies with Jacqueline Borot, Pierre Jamet and Fabrice Pierre in France, and with Giselle Herbert in Germany. She is an international soloist as well as a chamber musician, and has toured throughout Europe, the United States, the Far East and the Middle East. She performs regularly with the ensemble Gruppo Musica Insieme di Cremona and with the ensemble Kontraste.
