Niccolò Paganini, the demonic violin virtuoso, mesmerized audiences and influenced composers such as Schumann, Liszt and Brahms. The sixth concerto demonstrates Paganini’s early and lasting contact with stage music. The attractive melodies and harmonies are very operatic, marked by brilliant solos, surprising scene changes and expressive bel cantos. This is the third volume of Swiss violinist Alexandre Dubach’s complete recording of these remarkable masterpieces. He is accompanied by the Orchestre Philharmonique de Monte Carlo under the direction of Lawrence Foster.
