CONCERTOS FOR TROMBONE & ORCHESTRA
The four trombone concertos on this recording, even though relatively contemporary, have already become «classics» in this genre. The brilliant, virtuosic writing for the soloist in Armenian composer Alexander Arutiunian’s concerto is accompanied by an array of orchestral effects. Danish composer Launy Grøndahl’s concerto, although not specifically programmatic, is sure to evoke vivid pictures of his homeland.
The concertos by Ernest Bloch and Nino Rota, on the other hand, are more intimate and personal in character. Each of them offers trombonist Branimir Slokar ample opportunity to display his technical virtuosisty and wonderful musicality. He is accompanied by the Berliner Symphoniker under the direction of Lior Shambadal.
This recording is fully compatible with all major surround sound systems!
