FRENCH CONCERTOS
The 19th century is represented with the Cello Concerto in A Minor by Camille Saint-Saëns. Claude Starck provides a poignant and majestic interpretation of this rarely performed masterpiece. Peter-Lukas Graf, switching his flute for a baton, leads the English Chamber Orchestra.
(1997) French Concertos - CD 0501
Our third re-issue features three French composers from three different centuries: François Devienne, the famous flute virtuoso, Jacques Ibert, who demonstrated a special preference for the flute in his works, are the composers of the two flute concertos on this recording. Peter-Lukas Graf, together with the English Chamber Orchestra under the direction of Raymond Leppard, masterly perform these works.
