J. STRAUSS II: WIENERWALZER FOR PIANO FOUR HANDS
This recording presents a selection of some of Strauss’ most famous compositions in original four-hand piano settings (Tales from the Vienna Woods; Wine, Women and Song; The Blue Danube; Voices of Spring, etc.). There are no flamboyant «piano-tricks», this is «pure» Strauss!
The story of the Strauss family is the story of Viennese dance music, and the music of Johann Strauss, Jr. is the epitome of the waltz form. He wrote his first waltz at the age of six, and despite his father’s forbiddance to enter the music profession, it was the family blood that dictated his interest in dance music. At the age of nineteen he formed his own orchestra and made his debut – the rest is history! What history has overseen, however, is that many of these waltzes were written for four-hand piano at the time.
